Your Art Tutor Hobie Porter

Hobie Porter is a contemporary landscape painter focused on place and environment. He lives & works in the Tweed Valley, North-Eastern NSW, Australia. His work has been selected for recent survey exhibitions, including ‘Assemble | Disassemble’ (2015) Caboolture Regional Gallery, ‘The New Arcadia’ (2011) Lismore Regional Gallery and ‘Exquisite’ (2009) Gold Coast City Art Gallery. Hobie was shortlisted for the 2014 John Leslie Landscape Art Prize. In 2013, he was a finalist in the Colville LLoyd Rees Landscape prize (Colville Gallery, Hobart), the Mosman Art Prize (Mosman Art Gallery, Sydney) and the Paddington Art Prize (Mary Place Gallery, Sydney). In 2012, He was awarded Highly Commended in the Essential Energy Countryscapes Art Prize (Bathurst Regional Art Gallery). Hobie is a Henry Lawson Scholarship recipient, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) with Honours (Contemporary Art) and a Graduate Diploma of Education. Hobie has been exhibiting regularly since 2004 and teaches painting at the North Coast Institute of TAFE in NSW, Australia. Hobie is represented by Arthouse Gallery, Sydney.
